Use this free body type calculator to find your body shape classification (hourglass, pear, rectangle, inverted triangle, apple) using waist-to-hip and waist-to-height ratios.
How to use this calculator
Select your gender and measurement units.
Measure bust/shoulder circumference at the fullest point.
Measure waist circumference at the narrowest point.
Measure hip circumference at the widest point.
View your body shape classification and cardiovascular risk category based on WHR.
Formula & method
WHR & Anthropometric Ratios
WHR = Waist ÷ Hip · WHtR = Waist ÷ Height
Hourglass: Bust/Hip ≈ 1 and Waist/Hip ≤ 0.75. Pear: Hip > Bust and Waist/Hip ≤ 0.80.
Example
Bust 90 cm, Waist 70 cm, Hip 95 cm → WHR = 0.74 (Hourglass, Low Risk).
Key insights
Waist-to-Hip Ratio (WHR) above 0.85 for women or 0.90 for men indicates abdominal obesity and higher health risk.
Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR) should ideally be kept under 0.50 ('keep your waist circumference to less than half your height').
Body shape is largely determined by skeletal structure and fat distribution genetics.
How to interpret your result
Body Shape
Classification based on comparative proportions of bust, waist, and hips.
Cardiovascular Health Risk
Assessment of metabolic risk based on abdominal fat deposition (WHR).
Frequently asked questions
What is the healthiest body shape?
Body shape classifications are structural. Health-wise, maintaining a low Waist-to-Height Ratio (WHtR < 0.50) carries the lowest metabolic risk regardless of shape.
